Wild Wood DISCOVERY – aimed at school Y2 and Y3
The kids help the leaders put up a shelter which will become ‘home’ for the day and keep yourself warm by constructing a fire. Using a map, they will navigate around the woods, making friends with some of our small trees, while collecting items which you will use to create art. There will also be a chance to paddle down the stream.
Wild Wood ADVENTURE – aimed at school Y4 and Y5
With the support of a leader, they will build a shelter, learn to light a fire with a steel striker, navigate from A to B using a map and build a dam in a stream. They will also be tasked with collecting items, identifying trees by their leaves, measuring trees, and recording their findings.
Wild Wood CHALLENGE – aimed at school Y6 up to adults
Initiative will be used to build a shelter, lighting a fire with a steel striker, and using it to cook their lunch and make a hot drink. Armed with a compass and map, they will navigate the dale, study the stream, and what happens when you build a dam on a stream.
They will study and compare our trees from previous studies and learn how to identify some of the trees and plants growing in the wild wood.
All types of skills will be tested throughout such as teamwork, improvisation, and navigation.
DON’T FORGET – Wellies are a must for the Wild Wood Experiences!
